Four Hearts

In honor of the red and white exhibit that was this weekend, appliqued a few red hearts on a cream background this weekend.  Just love this fabric collection, so plan to make a heart in every print and put them together into a little quilt.  The pattern for the heart block from Blackbird Designs is here:

Its been cold and rainy here this week, so made chicken and dumplings for dinner.  My husband said they are "almost" as good as his grandma's!  No problem here - I agree that nothing is as good as memories of grandma's cooking!

Just finished reading "Room."  Have any of you read it?  Almost quit at the beginning but it definitely got better and it is thought provoking.  It reminded me of how I felt when reading "Little Bee" last year.  I haven't forgotten that one either - what a story!

I worked on a big red & white block too. Wish I could have gone to the exhibit but that sure wasn't in the cards for me.

I heart your hearts :0) What a pretty variety of reds - what line are they from? I wish I could have gone to see it too...sigh...

I have a feeling there will be a lot of red and white quilts being made after the exhibition, think what they'll say in a hundred years. The hearts are a great shape. I'm going to start a book list, thanks for the thumbs up.

Love the hearts!!! I love anything hearts and have for years. I also love chicken and dumplings. After I made it the first time, it's what my kids always requested for birthday dinners! Nice job on both fronts.

Your little hearts are so sweet looking. I think we'll be seeing a lot of red and whites from the inspiration the exhibit brings?

i've just finished "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" by Kim Edwards. it was good and i'll be looking forward to reading "The Lake of Dreams" by her at some point . . .

before that i read "The Gravedigger's Daughter" by Joyce Carol Oates. i enjoyed it. i've also read her "We Were The Mulvaneys" and thought it was outstanding.

not sure what i'm going to read next.

It is so fun to be seeing all the red and white inspirations around blog land. Love your hearts.
Haven't heard of Room before, but I think I shall add it to my future reading list . . . I just discovered my old library card in my wallet. All I have to do is change my address and I'll be back in business *s*

Love those little hearts - just 3" square, they must look really precious! I've printed out the pattern and will make up some blocks to carry with me to work so I can sew on my breaks. Thanks for sharing!!
