State Fair Quilts

Attended the California State Fair today, and wanted to share a few photos of the wonderful quilts which won awards this year.  Pictures taken with permission of State Fair staff, but unfortunately I didn't note the names of the quiltmakers as there was a large crowd and I had to keep moving!

Loved this quilt!
My favorite this year!

Gorgeous applique!

Sweet house quilt - must make this!

Who doesn't love Charley Harper?

Gorgeous crocheted coverlet - it was lined with fabric too!
We visited Yosemite Park in May and the falls were magnificent this year. The photo doesn't do them justice! Thought the little cabin at Yosemite was just adorable.

We have been working on house projects, so not much on the quilting front, but did manage to finish some churn dash blocks for the Jo Morton Churn Dash Swap.  Pulled out a Stars Quilt I finished some time ago and will hopefully get it quilted some time this summer.

Hope you are all enjoying your summer, and thanks for stopping by for a visit!

Good to hear from you again. I also love that green applique - what a great background choice. And churn dash has to be my most favorite block every.

Thank you for taking me to the California State Fair to see the quilts! One of my favorite things about Quilters Blogs is viewing shows around the USA and beyond. I was touched by the picture of the log cabin and was flooded with thoughts of pioneer women piecing quilts by candlelight to keep their families warm. It is a great thing we do to take our love of quilting into the future for generations to come.

I love your two quilt tops! It is hard to get much sewing done in the summer.
What terrific quilts at the fair.
Yosemite is wonderful- love that cabin!

Welcome back! I'm not getting much, well actually not any, quilting done this summer, either. I really enjoyed seeing your pictures. I've always loved visiting Yosemite. It's such a beautiful place.

Love the favorite quilt with the Moda green background, who would have thought that would work.

Love the park pics, also.

Just discovered your blog and so enjoyed looking back at your posts.
Thanks for sharing these California beauties - yours included!
A visit to Yosemite in the 80's started my appreciation for our national parks.

My 'someday' list includes the State Fair and Yosemite. Can you believe that we have never been to either? Shame on us *S*
