Great Grandmother's Rose

My great grandmother owned this quilt, and I am lucky to still have it. I shudder to think I once thought about cutting it up to make quilted bunnies (horrors!)  I decided to try to reproduce a block. Think I will use the block in a crib sized quilt instead. Its fun to feel the connection with my great grandmother when I see her quilt and wonder about the history behind it.

oh I love how you laid the block a bit differently
I would have traced it and reproduced it exactly
this is one of my favorite applique blocks.

It's just lovely, my favourite kind of quilt. Of course I'm so glad it didn't end up being cut, whew, good call there.

What a treasure to have such a beautiful applique quilt made by a family member! I like your reproduction. How big is the original quilt?

What a treasure! I love that you are reproducing it, too - just think of the joys you are bringing future generations.

Love those daffodils in your header - they are still a ways off here. I miss them *s*

Dixie that is so cool to have a quilt from your family like that. You did a great job reproducing that block. Here's another link to my blog: www.crazyhorsequilting.blogspot.com

What a beautiful quilt and a lovely reproduction block. I just finished my fourth Spencer block. Now to decide where to go with these blocks.

Great job on the reproduction block! I am so glad you did not go the quilted bunny route with the original.
